BEST OF SHOW-WESTMORELAND COUNTY FAIR

It certainly has been one of the worst weeks of my life; however showing up at the fair today certainly put the spring back in my step. I entered 5 projects in the fair. This is the first time I have entered our local fair and the first time I have entered any fair in about...31 years! So, imagine my surprise when I walked in and saw that my "Shades of Green" (original design by Kelly Hoernig) won First Place and Best of Show! I was so shocked and so excited at the same time that it is surprising I didn't just pass out.

I want to thank everyone for pushing me to enter it and giving me the support I have needed in the last week to get through all the family drama. I hope you will keep our family in your prayers, it will take a lot to repair what is broken.

The World Traveler

This is a custom piece of jewelry I made for a wonderful woman named Beverly. She fell in love with my "Dream" bracelet and wanted a version for herself with some of the same components. She brought me some beads and charms that meant a lot to her from her travels around the world that she wanted included in the bracelet. They truly dictated the theme and color for the bracelet. I know the beautiful brass color and cinnabar and ruby colored stones will look especially beautiful on her. When you look at this bracelet pay close attention to the face beads. They are glass beads with faces hand painted on the inside of them. There are Swarovski crystals all over the bracelet. A woman cannot have enough "bling".I am adding three photo charms to the bracelet but I never like to put someone else's photograph on my blog without asking. Cellini Spiral with Superduos

Cellini peyote is one of the bead-weaving stitches I love the most. This past year I joined the Cellini Peyote Freaks group on Facebook. I enjoyed sharing pictures of things I made and learning from patterns that others shared with the group. For Christmas 2018 I decided to give my pattern for Cellini Spiral with Superduos to the group as a gift. I have enjoyed seeing photos of the pieces people have made using my pattern. It is a blessing to be able to share knowledge with others. This year as I was desperately trying to figure out how I was going to jump-start my blog, I decided to start by giving away the pattern I gave to the Cellini group.
