Cricket in the box

Cricket is my pica kitty. She loves eating/chewing on wood and cardboard. From time to time we will give her a box to satisfy her dietary cravings and of course, make her feel at home. She is an abnormally "hot" kitty. She does not like to lay anywhere that is warm and thus stays away from cat beds, comforters, etc. The cool cardboard seems to make her very happy.

Christmas was a sad time for us this year. Many of my friends know my MIL had been ill for a time now. Christmas day we had to take her to the ER for a DVT in her left leg. Ironically it is the same leg that I had mine in. From there all things went downhill. While performing additional tests we learned she has thyroid cancer, heart disease and what we already knew, Alzheimer's. She is now in a nursing home and most likely will remain there. Because of the other illness and her age (87) we are not treating the cancer. When needed, if needed, she will have pain meds but nothing more. It has made the holiday a difficult time for the family and of course has meant spending a lot of time in the hospital with her. I'm sorry for not keeping in touch with my friends but hope you will all understand what the family has been dealing with.

All my best,
Linda
